Tina Turner asked her audience, “What’s love got to do with it?” Joe Kiedinger asks you, “What’s money got to do with it?” I hear people use money as an excuse all the time with regards to why that can’t do something. “I’d start that venture but I don’t have the money.” Or “I’m going into the (fill in the blank) industry because I can make a lot of money.” Yuck! How inspiring!
If you do what you love you’ll never work another day in your life. I know people who have started taking steps toward their own enterprise while working for another employer. They do all of their personal business work outside of work hours. I met a couple who were both employed and on weekends they ran an ice cream stand in their hometown in the summers to make extra money, but more importantly because they love doing it.
We live in America. Money is as common as air. It’s everywhere. Explain why my 13 year-old son can knock on a few doors with a lawn mower in tow and end the day with $30 in his pocket. Wow, that was easy! Don’t let money prevent you from doing something and don’t let money dictate the career you are going to choose. Embrace each new day with purpose by doing something small that if done now will fulfill your dreams in the future.
