An Interview with Larry Bilotta: The Four Countries
Do you ever feel like some people are from a completely different planet? Like you can’t get your point across to someone no matter how you try to phrase it? Like no matter how much you walk on eggshells, they make you feel like you’re offending them? The problem here is communication!
On this week’s show, communication expert Larry Bilotta joined me for our monthly Monday Mastermind Interview to discuss this. After his years of tireless research on communication in the business workplace and at home, he developed an amazingly simple way of understanding the different communication styles that make up our world.
Larry believes all people fit into four categories called “countries” to some degree. The country which a person most closely identifies with is often called their Home Country. The country which the person relates to sometimes, but not as often, is their Adopted Country. Which countries do you fit into?
Fun Country
Simply put, the people of Fun Country live for fun! They love to socialize and want life to be silly and lighthearted. They prefer to spend their time relaxing and have a mentality of “we’ll make it up as we go along”. They want to enjoy all aspects of life.
Perfect Country
Perfect Country folks live to pursue perfection. These people are often found in the arts and sciences, colleges, and corporate America. They tend to be more serious and sensitive. Most centrally, they want everything to be “right”.
Peace Country
The people of Peace Country live to pursue peace and want everyone to get along. Peace Country people make up the majority of the word. They are more calm and stable and tend to talk less often than people of other countries because they focus more on listening to others. They like to understand the thoughts and feelings of others.
Control Country
Control Country people live to have control over all aspects of their lives. They are accomplishment driven and tend to be less patient than others.
These countries are all part of a greater program we’ve developed called the About Me Program. This system works to improve internal and external communications in business by focusing on what makes individuals tick. Today’s employees won’t settle for being treated like a number. They expect fair and individualized treatment. Learn about your associates, their motivations, if they’re on the right seats of your bus, and how you can communicate better as a team. The About Me Program is a powerful new approach that’s catching on like wildfire. Learn how your company can join the program by contacting me, Joe, at info@prophitmarketing.com.
