How you say it is more important than what you say. March 8, 2010

My three year journey of learning about how people are wired has guided me to the realization that we offend people every day and don’t even realize it. We are creatures of emotion whether you realize that or not, it’s the truth. Some people like to just state the facts and tell it like it is (or as they see it). We call these people hard natured. Some people take offense to that approach. The “say it as it is” people are typically not sensitive to soft natured people who find success through the relationships in their life.

Sometimes we just say things funny. For example: if you told your sweetheart “When I look into your eyes, time stands still.” Why, that would be good. However, if you said the same thing using different words, “Honey, you have the face that can stop a clock.” Not such a good reaction I’m willing to bet. Be careful how you say things so they are not misinterpreted. E-mailing is the biggest culprit of poor communication. This author isn’t perfect. I favor my hard nature and sometimes I’m not careful and come across differently than I attended. It’s ok to make mistakes as long as we’re working at getting better!
